Beyond the Surface exists to train, equip and mobilise people to assist those who are struggling with complex life and/or mental health issues.

The workshops and seminars offered by Beyond the Surface are highly practical, providing a deeper understanding of complex life issues and various mental health conditions, as well as empowering people with the skills needed to respond effectively and compassionately to the needs of those hurting in their community.

Cadence Williamson is the Director of Beyond the Surface, and facilitates/co-facilitates all training workshops and seminars. With Post-Graduate qualifications in Psychology, a Graduate qualification in Theology, and 12 years field experience to draw upon. She has worked in areas as diverse as Court and Prison, Drug and Alcohol, Housing, Welfare, Child, Youth and Families, and Church Ministry, performing a variety of roles including Counselling, Case Management, Youth Work, Chaplaincy, and Psycho-Education. This vast experience uniquely positions Cadence to offer practical tools and strategies for dealing with both crisis situations and situations requiring long-term strategy and support.

Cadence is committed to the de-stigmatisation of mental illness across society through high quality, evidence based education and practical training. Cadence's vision to improve mental health outomes incorporates a whole community response, through the empowerment of community organisations, schools and churches to effectively assist those struggling in their communities.
